About Me

Hiya, and thank you for visiting I’m Almost There!

My name is Nadine, and I’m a Walt Disney World enthusiast from Northern Ireland.

After being introduced to the Sunshine State by an old Penpal as a teenager, I now try to return annually to eat Mickey-shaped sweet treats and get tossed about in a ride vehicle to the soothing sounds of I Ran by Flock of Seagulls (best song – don’t fight me on this).

For most of my rotations around the sun, I’ve had to cope with anxiety. In the last fifteen years, a chronic illness, and within the past 5 years, an incredibly spicy spine.

Messy, right?

I’m Almost There exists because life is messy.

Travelling is a luxurious privilege, but by no means is it stress-free – the difference between people such as me and the average Disney Tourist are decisions that extend far beyond which side of World Showcase to start snacking.

This space is for you, the A-Typical Traveller – the neurodivergent and disabled alike with just as much right to enjoy your trip to the most magical place on earth as anyone else – it might just look a little different.

My aim with this blog is to carve out a little safe space on the internet where you can access information that will help with managing your physical and mental health, so that you can focus on making memories that last a lifetime.

The website will take time to build, but with each new post please take as a true reflection of authenticity – spelling mistakes, intrusive thoughts, and ramblings in all.

I’ll never write about topics or experiences that I haven’t experienced first-hand, or am unable to vouch for through extensive research. You deserve much more than an AI overview when you’re investing thousands in hard-earned cash to visit the parks.

I hope this puts your mind at ease, and if this sounds like the place for you, you’re more than welcome here!

FUN FACT

I got all six songs on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind without a repeat over two trips,
one year apart.
The order from first to last was:

  • Disco Inferno
  • Conga
  • Everybody Wants to Rule the World
  • September
  • One Way or Another
  • I Ran

(I am missing the elusive Run Run Rocket from the Holiday Season of 2022)
